due to Technological intervention He
is a progressive farmer having knowledge on not only IFS but also other crop
cultivation rice, pulses, vegetables etc., He also the first person in Nagapattinam to adopt SRI with the advice of the scientist
TRRI, Aduthurai and practicing since 2001. He used to
get the net profit of 65,000 / ha only from the commercialized cropping system
of rice – rice – blackgram. But after the
intervention through KVK, Sikkal and his more involvement
he emerged as a model farmer of adopting IFS suited to the low land rice
system. He
is getting the net profit 2,79,000/- per acre / year
as compared to Rs. 26,000/- per / acre / year under conventional crop
cultivation alone. Lessons
learnt Novel
feeding of pulses haulm to goats without spillage / wastage install fed method,
Skill of all available resource management more efficiently Spreading success to other farmers or farmers
groups Initially
20 farmers were taken to KVK, Namakkal and skill were
developed on Stall fed method of goat farming through exposure visit and.
Hybrid goats were distributed to farmers in technology week at KVK, Sikkal during 2010. This method was started by Mr. G. Jeevanantham, Nangudi village, Kilvelur block. During On campus training on IFS, the
farmers were taken to Nangudi village through
exposure visit. At
present about 75 farmers are following the stall fed method of goat farming. Horizontal spread of Th.Jeevanantham-Other Nottable Successful IFS Farmers
HI
TECH VEGETABLE CULTIVATION
Technologies
adopted: Being
a farmer growing rice and pulse crop, he could not able to generate good
remuneration. Moreover, he had struggled a lot and he used to fight against
natural calamities viz., flood, drought etc. After establishment of KVK at Sikkal in 2004, he used to visit KVK to get knowledge and
training on vegetables cultivation techniques.. Then switched over to vegetable cultivation and medicinal crop gloriosa. He used to get knowledge and training on
hybrid vegetable cultivation techniques and get expertise from exposure visits
on precision farming to Dharmapuri, Krishinagri Districts. Then started cultivating hybrid
vegetables such us tomato, chillies with protray nursery techniques and periodical spray of Triacontanol for increasing flowering and fruit setting
etc., Impact
due to Technological intervention From
an area of half an acre, he had taken the highest yield of 16 tonnes of hybrid tomato Lakshmi.
He got the per plant yield of 2 kg green chillies Priyanka hybrid chillies. He is
also getting more than Rs. 50,000 net profit per year from vegetables and more
than Rs.25,000 through gloriosa
cultivation. Net income Rs.75,000/- per year Lessons
learnt Off
season growing of hybrid vegetables
with protray nursery techniques and regular use of
growth regulators like triacontanol. Spreading
success to other farmers or farmers groups During
On and Off campus training on Hi tech vegetable
cultivation, the farmers were taken to Veerankudikadu
village through exposure visit. More than 100 farmers are growing hybrid
vegetables like Tomato( Lakshmi) SYSTEM OF RICE INTENSIFICATION
